FAQs of the Prepare and Enrich Assessment
About the Prepare and Enrich Assessment
What is Prepare/Enrich? Prepare/Enrich is a research-based online assessment tool designed to help couples strengthen their relationships. It's been used by over 4 million couples and is backed by more than 35 years of research. The assessment identifies your unique strengths and growth areas across key relationship categories including communication, conflict resolution, finances, intimacy, and more.
How long does the Prepare/Enrich assessment take? The online questionnaire takes approximately 30-45 minutes per person to complete. You'll take it separately at your own convenience. After completing the assessment, you'll attend personalized feedback sessions with our certified facilitator, typically 4-6 sessions of about 60-90 minutes each.
Do we take the assessment together or separately? You each complete the online assessment separately. This allows you to answer honestly without influence from your partner. Your individual responses are then combined to create a comprehensive couple's report that our facilitator will review with you during your feedback sessions.
Is the assessment confidential? Yes, absolutely. Your responses are confidential and will only be shared between you, your partner, and your certified facilitator. We follow strict HIPAA guidelines to protect your privacy.
What happens after we complete the assessment? After you both complete the online questionnaire, your facilitator will generate a personalized report highlighting your relationship strengths and growth areas. You'll then schedule feedback sessions where you'll review the results together, learn research-based communication skills, practice conflict resolution techniques, and create an action plan for your relationship.
Faith Integration FAQ
What faiths do you integrate into the counseling process? We offer specialized faith-based versions of the Prepare/Enrich assessment with biblical references for Christian, Catholic, and Jewish couples. Each version includes scripture passages and faith-specific discussion guides that align with your religious tradition. If you practice a different faith or prefer a secular approach, we can accommodate that as well. Faith integration is completely optional and customized to your beliefs.
Can we do faith-based counseling if we're from different religious backgrounds? Yes! We can help interfaith couples navigate their different spiritual traditions. We'll discuss how to honor both faith backgrounds while building a unified approach to your relationship. The assessment can help you explore how your different beliefs will impact important areas like finances, parenting, holidays, and family traditions.
What if only one of us wants faith integration? That's perfectly fine. We can incorporate faith perspectives in a way that respects both partners. Many couples have different levels of religious involvement, and we'll help you navigate those differences constructively while honoring each person's beliefs and comfort level.
Is faith integration required? No, absolutely not. Faith integration is completely optional. We offer both faith-based and secular versions of the Prepare/Enrich assessment. You can choose the approach that feels right for your relationship, and you can discuss your preferences when you schedule your first session.
Online vs. In-Person FAQ
Is the online assessment as effective as in-person? Yes! The assessment itself is always completed online (whether you choose in-person or virtual sessions), and the feedback sessions are equally effective whether conducted in our offices or via secure video. Many couples actually prefer online sessions for the convenience and flexibility, and research shows that telehealth counseling is just as effective as in-person sessions.
What technology do I need for online sessions? You'll need a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera, microphone, and stable internet connection. We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform that's easy to access. We'll send you simple instructions before your first session.
Can we do some sessions in-person and some online? Yes, we offer flexible scheduling. You can mix in-person and online sessions based on your schedule, travel needs, or preferences. Many couples start in-person and switch to online for convenience, or vice versa.
Which location should we choose? Choose whichever location is most convenient for you! We have offices in Woodland Hills (serving West San Fernando Valley), San Bernardino (serving the Inland Empire), and Temecula (serving Temecula Valley and Southwest Riverside County). If you live elsewhere in California or prefer not to travel, our online sessions are available statewide.
Bilingual & Cultural FAQ
Are the assessment questions available in Spanish? Yes! The entire Prepare/Enrich assessment is available in Spanish. You can take the questionnaire in Spanish, receive your reports in Spanish, and conduct all feedback sessions in Spanish with our bilingual therapists.
What if one partner prefers English and the other prefers Spanish? No problem! Each partner can complete the assessment in their preferred language. One partner can take it in English while the other takes it in Spanish. We'll provide materials in both languages and conduct sessions bilingually as needed.
Are your therapists culturally sensitive? Absolutely. Our bilingual therapists are not only fluent in Spanish but also culturally competent and sensitive to different cultures specially the Latino/Hispanic family dynamics, values, and traditions. We understand the importance of family (familia), respect (respeto), and cultural considerations in relationships.
Do you work with interfaith or intercultural couples? Yes! We regularly work with couples from different cultural, ethnic, or religious backgrounds. The Prepare/Enrich assessment actually has specific sections that help interfaith and intercultural couples discuss how to honor both traditions, navigate family expectations, and build unity while respecting differences.
